EVENTS & REMINDERS

MURDOCK'S NEW SCHOOL WEBSITE

Picture
Now that each school in our district has a new website that can be updated by school staff, much of the Murdock PTA website content is in the process of being moved to the school website (www.lmsvsd.org/murdock or www.murdockmustangs.com).

Please note that all PTA programs that support students (art docent, run 4 fun, PE docent, Accelerated Reader, etc. can be found on the school website in the STUDENTS section as "enrichment programs".

The school calendar will no longer be maintained at www.MurdockPTA.org because Nitaleen Morin, the Murdock office manager, can now update the school's calendar using the school website.

In the future, the Murdock PTA website will be streamlined to contain PTA-specific information (PTA membership info, PTA budget and fundraiser info, descriptions of the 30+ programs the PTA supports at Murdock, school funding alerts, PTA meeting information, PTA offices and chair position job descriptions, and PTA organizational and leadership development information).

EXERCISE 4 EDUCATION (E4E) FUNDRAISER UPDATE

Picture
YOU DID IT! YOU HELPED US REACH OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL!

PTA budgeted to raise $12,000 from the E4E fall fundraiser so that students can benefit from a variety of enriching programs this year.

Thank you to everyone who turned in pledge money or donations!

To celebrate this success, we are coordinating a special Murdock Sportsfest for all Murdock students. If you would like more information or would like to help, please contact E4E Chair, Mo Davis-White. You can reach her via email at e4e@murdockpta.org.

This means that we are on target for paying for programs like... (click here to learn more)

BRING IN BOOKS TO EXCHANGE AT THE ANNUAL BOOK SWAP!

Picture
Bring up to 15 books you no longer read and exchange them at the PTA-sponsored Book Swap in January! Please bring your books to school in a bag January 11-13, attaching the form on this flyer (click to download). We're looking for adult and college-age volunteers to help sort the books (January 11-13) and to help students select books during Book Swap January 17-19.  Sign up to volunteer or learn more...

STUDENT ART CONTEST UPDATE

Picture
Murdock PTA sent 18 entries to the Mt Helix Council of PTAs for the next round of judging in the annual PTA Reflections Art Contest. The entry submitted by Murdock sixth grader Annie B. was selected to move onto the next round of judging at the PTA Ninth District. Congratulations to all students who submitted entries and participated in this national art program!

SAVE YOUR FRESH & EASY GROCERY RECEIPTS

Picture
NOW THROUGH DECEMBER 31
Last year we received $1,000 from Fresh & Easy for the Shopping Night and the receipts collection. Please save your receipts dated Sept 15-December 31 and drop them off at the school office or workroom before January 13th. Murdock PTA receives $1 for every multiple of $20 spent on each receipt. Questions? Contact Melissa Brothers, PTA Community Partners Chair, at mbrotherspta@gmail.com.

SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL

Picture
State budget cuts to public education have eliminated programs and services for children. If you would like to make a donation to Murdock PTA's Save Our School drive, funds will be used to preserve programs that would otherwise be cut, including an intervention and support person who works with students in small groups, cultural arts assemblies, and technology (Brain Pop and Streaming Live Video including Bill Nye science video) used by teachers in the classroom to bring learning beyond the text book. If you would like to make a donation, please use the PTA membership form's SOS Donation line (pdf).

MURDOCK PTA RECEIVES 10% EACH TIME YOU SWIPE YOUR CARD AT JAMBA JUICE

Picture
SEPTEMBER 1- OCTOBER 31
Pick up a free School Appreciation Card in the school office and use it every time you go to a Jamba Juice participating location. Through October 31, YOU will get $1 off your $3 minimum purchase AND Murdock PTA receives 10%.

PTA IS HERE TO HELP YOU!

Picture
Ever read a flyer and wonder what something means? Not familiar with some of the education terminology you read or hear? Just ask! PTA is here to help parents get answers to questions and help you navigate the school maze! Send your question to president@murdockpta.org or EVP@murdockpta.org and Jay or Annette will get back to you with an answer!
