Ok - Time to get serious!
Happy Friday Everyone! Break is almost over and even though I want to relax for a few more days I know that it is time to get
back to work. I have been putting a few things on the back burner over break, like the Special Edition Newsletter that was going to feature all of the fun and excitement of the upcoming Halloween Happening event (Yup, that’s not happening now), and imputing all of the 6th graders on the class website (that’ll happen hopefully before the end of the school year – parents are all added as members, so the kids will be my ongoing project).
I am VERY excited about Halloween Happening! October 26th is going to be a lot of F-U-N!!! I think that we may be out of town that weekend, unfortunately, but I would love to hear how much fun everyone had. Email me at [email protected]
to tell me all about it. I would like to put a few first-hand accounts in the newsletter and on the blog – ask your kids too!!
So, just to get into the Halloween spirit I picked up some Dark Magic flavored coffee – holy moly – after one cup I am ready to scrub the house from top to bottom. I have certainly been more productive…ha ha! I have been asking my husband to get down our Halloween box so we can start decorating, but I think that the boys and I will get it down today. I have a list of stuff to get done and I’m sure that once I finish my coffee I will be ready to go.
I’m not really sure why we decorate to be honest. We get zero trick-or-treaters, and unfortunately any candy that I do get often
gets consumed before Halloween so even if a goblin came to our door I would have nothing to hand out (I would have to resort to giving out my kids toys and on second thought maybe that would be a good thing). I like decorating and carving pumpkins, I like to see the kids get dressed up and act silly, but I think the thing that I like most of all is that the kids enjoy it so much. This will be the first year that the boys will be making their own costumes out of what we have. Up to now they have always wanted to be
“something” for many, many years the boys were race car drivers, then Darth Vader was popular for a couple years, then last year the boys both wore morphsuits (those were a bit strange, but it was fun to see my youngest really come out of his shell. He would jump around and be silly – it was great to see. He has always been “my quite one” so for him to be acting wild and crazy (in a good way) was great to see. This year I am hoping that the boys will add on to the morphsuits to come up with something new. Chris is now old enough to want to be something new each year – Nathan I don’t think really cares. We have a race car costume that Chris wore for three or four years, then Nathan wore it for a couple years. The boys can’t fit into it anymore, but I hate to just toss them out. Every year I say that I am going to donate them the next year, but then the next year comes and we still have them. I never seem to get to the box early enough! This year I am going to change that!!! I am getting the box down today, will wash the costumes (and repair them if needed), and figure out a place to donate them. Another cup of coffee and I’ll have the house decorated and the costumes washed, fixed, and donated by tonight! ;-)
See you all on Monday!!
