PTA Fundraisers

Why Do We Have Fundraisers?

Fundraising is how we finance PTA programs, school enrichment programs, and special projects benefiting Murdock students.
  • The fundraisers must support the goals of PTA and be related to the educational, charitable, an philanthropic purposes as a tax-exempt organization.
  • When planning the year's activities, PTAs use the 3-to-1 rule: for every one fundraising activity, there should be at least three non-fundraising programs aimed at helping parents or children or advocating for school improvements.
  • The fundraising project must have a specific purpose and must be approved each year by the association membership (at the PTA General Association meetings).

EXERCISE 4 EDUCATION (E4E)

This fall fundraising event (jog-a-thon and physical-fitness challenge stations) raises funds through pledges, donations, and sponsorships. Learn more...

SPRING FLING
This not-to-be-missed auction and silent auction event offers a huge selection of auction items -- truly something for everyone and items in every price range! This is a FUN adults-only event held at the La Mesa Community Center. It is a great way to mix and mingle, enjoy delicious appetizers and desserts, dance, and support Murdock school! Learn more...

Parent help is requested to ensure a successful fund-raising and FUN-raising year.

The Ways & Means Team would love help on a one-time or ongoing basis.

We welcome any amount of time you can give.

Supplemental Funds Are Raised Through:

COMMUNITY PARTNER FUNDRAISING
The following businesses will donate a percentage to Murdock PTA when you:
  • Register your VONS grocery card (Requires renewal every August 1st. Register your VONS card through escrip.com and use Murdock's Group ID 6654407. Don't have your VONS card number? Call Safeway/VONS toll-free at 877-723-3929 to get your card number.)
  • Register your RALPHS grocery card (Requires renewal every September 1st. Use Murdock's code #82560 at www.ralphs.com. Don't have your Ralph's card number? Call Ralphs at 800-660-9003.)
  • Sign up for www.eSCRIP.com using Murdock's Group ID 6654407.
  • Save your Fresh & Easy Grocery receipts (September 15-December 31st) and bring them to Murdock no later than January 13th!
 

DONATIONS
  • Recycle your ink cartridges and old cell phones (drop them off at the Murdock office or workroom)
  • Donate school supplies to your classroom (check with your teacher to find out what s/he needs)
  • Make an S.O.S. donation (Support Our School) to fill gaps left by the state budget cuts
 

MEET & EAT NIGHTS
These events are a fun way to build a stronger Murdock Community. You enjoy a meal where someone else does the cooking and cleaning, and the restaurant donates a percentage to Murdock PTA! Watch the school calendar for upcoming Meet & Eat Nights.
 

SHOP FOR MURDOCK
Whenever you purchase items that have the Boxtops for Education logo or Labels for Education logo, please clip those labels and bring them to school. Last year, Murdock school received almost $2,000 from Boxtops for Education which purchased school supplies for every classroom! Pick up a free key chain card in Murdock's office, and every time you go to Jamba Juice, swipe the key chain card and Jamba Juice will donate 10% to Murdock PTA and 2% to California PTA.
 

NO-COST FUNDRAISERS
Did you know that if you use www.GoodSearch.com as your internet search engine, Murdock PTA will receive a penny each time you search? It costs you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
 

MURDOCK SPIRIT-WEAR / T-SHIRT SALE
The purpose of the t-shirt sale is to help bring "school spirit" to life, so prices have been set to cover the cost of the t-shirts. We anticipate raising approximately $1,000 from the t-shirt sale.
