Why Should I Join PTA?
Does My Membership Really Matter?
Simply by sending in your membership form, you're helping the PTA send a strong message to Sacramento that parents care about public education.
Whether you choose to get involved or not, your membership makes a real difference here at Murdock and throughout California.
Many people think that if they join the PTA, they'll get arm-twisted into something they don't have time for.
That's not true!
The choice to volunteer, participate in fundraisers, or serve as an officer or chair is totally up to you!
You might be pleasantly surprised to know that there are many ongoing or short-term projects that can benefit from just 30 minutes of your time. They're usually not posted because of their short-term nature, but if you check in at the school office, the staff can direct you to the volunteer coordinator or the workroom volunteers.
However, PTA members are encouraged to become familiar with PTA programs and attend the quarterly PTA General Association Meetings to vote on PTA business.
New this year, PTA members will receive a members-only e-newsletter each month to inform you of PTA business and get your input via short surveys.
The Bottom Line?
Becoming a PTA member does not require a huge commitment of your time and resources, but it is vitally important to maintaining the strong parent-school-learning community all students benefit from at Murdock. The time or talent of one person, joined by another, and yet another, creates a "ripple effect" which makes the difference.
